![]() One PlayStation 3-specific feature of the game is its Motion Sensor Spin Control via the SIXAXIS controller. We do however hope that EA works towards a more realistic approach in future games. The game has an overall cartoonish look to it, with clothing looking a bit flat at times, but it's an overall visually pleasing title. Tiger Woods himself of course looks best, though many of the other licensed golfers look quite fantastic as well. Up close though, the golfers are extremely detailed, with nary a sharp edge to be made out. The framerate does occasionally chop up a bit when the camera pans around, but it never affects gameplay. You'll also notice repeated textures in a few areas, like the signature rocky waterside at Pebble Beach or a dense group of trees along a hole. The mip-map textures for the fairway gets quite blurry out in the distance, and if you're at just the right spot, you can see the resolution change between one section and the next. Visually speaking, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 actually looks much better up close than far away, believe it or not. The game's increased level of difficulty makes things generally more rewarding, and in turn a great deal more fun. ![]() You'll derive a whole ton of satisfaction from taking a chance on your second stroke on a long par 5, nailing the shot and then sinking the putt for an eagle. Despite these problems, the game is immensely fun. ![]() This seems to be a fairly rare fluke as we normally didn't have a problem with this, but it's somewhat confusing when it does happen. If your golfer is supposed to be capable of driving the ball a maximum of 180 yards with a 5 iron and then you smack it 220 and into a river, there wasn't much you could have done to have prepared for that. Sometimes you'll swing and overshoot your target area by a fair distance, even sometimes when shooting uphill, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. While putting strength is commonly curious, this occasionally happens with mid-hole shots as well. This makes it really hard to putt at anything but full strength, so you'll over or undershoot the hole fairly often. Pulling back the stick half-way doesn't mean that you'll swing at 50% power - rather, it's probably more like 75%. One of the issues that we have with putting however is that the analog stick movement doesn't seem to be linear with regards to your swing's power. When your on-screen persona pumps his fist and dances around the green, you'll be right there with him. The great part about this is that when you sink a putt from 30 feet on a wildly undulating green, you really get the feeling that you've done something great. By default, the Ideal Putt Camera is turned off, so you need to line up everything by eye. One thing that really stresses the game's increase in difficulty is its putting, and partly for negative reasons. As you generally can't be as picture-perfect as in the past, you'll find that you'll wind up in the bunker more often than before, or at the very least have to play a bit safer to prevent said beach venture. This ties into the overall feel that this latest Tiger Woods is a fair bit harder than many of the previous games. All too often before you could tell whether or not you'd just hit the edge of a crevice if you nailed the shot, but for the most part this is no longer true. It's a really neat way to make you play a little safer and with a little more strategy. Even if you think you've nailed a shot, it still may wind up 10 yards away from where you were aiming. Where there's a lot of play though is in the 90 - 99% accuracy range. If you nail a perfect swing, you'll still wind up hitting the very center of this circle. The better your golfer, the more ideal your lie and the "safer" your shot, the smaller your circle will be. The idea here is that if you hit the ball well, it'll drop somewhere in this area, but you don't have precise control over it like before. Rather than having a pinpoint dot that you use to aim, you're in control of a large circle, an area that your golfer is aiming towards. The biggest change to the series is the True Aiming mechanic. ![]() Where the game has changed and improved the most however is on the course. It's a good idea to clean and disinfect the table and its associated toys regularly. Water tables have two big issues: They're mostly used outdoors, so they collect leaves and bugs, and they're, of course, filled with water, which can foster mold growth. If you've decided on a water table that comes with fewer frills, you can always supplement with your own bath toys, like this Munchkin fishing game. ![]() ✔️ Toys: Scoops, chutes, spinners, little characters and other toys may not come included. A cover, lid or umbrella are great to keep the water table protected from collecting debris but will add to the price. ✔️ Features: Every water table should have a drain plug so you can empty it before you put it away. If you prefer something that will blend in better with your backyard or patio decor, there are a few choices with more muted tones or fewer colors. ✔️ Style: Water tables are usually made of plastic and tend to be colorful. Keep in mind that these often will still be fairly long, however. Others lay on the ground and can later fold up for storage. ✔️ Size: Exactly how big of a water table can your deck, patio or yard handle? The traditional water tables that kids stand up to use tend to be large items that take up a lot of real estate, but there are smaller options that are thinner and vertical. If you prefer you can use a small nail and a hammer to create the starter hole. Hint: For many Step2 toys, the brand intentionally does not pre-drill the screw holes, you're trusted to best align the pieces and use a little downward pressure with either your screwdriver or a screw to get the hole started. This version comes together a little more easily than other water tables. When the weather gets cooler, online reviewers say they place this in the shower for kids to play with (with supervision, of course!). (It's very STEM-friendly!) This doesn't come with any cute toy creatures but you can always float your own bath duck in the bottom water reservoir. All the pieces can be moved from one peg to another, so kids will keep busy creating new paths and learning about gravity and cause and effect. Kids can scoop water from the bottom lagoon and pour it into the top - then watch it cascade down through the spinners, chutes and other accessories. If you don't have a lot of floor or yard space to devote to a water table, this double-sided, 33-inch-high play wall allows you to go vertical. We rated how engaging each was for kids and how long each water table held their attention. And let's not forget the most important thing of all: the fun factor. We considered how easy each water table was to put together and how easy it was to clean. For water tables, our staff members tested 15 different picks over the past five years, testing each with toddlers and preschoolers. The experts at the Good Housekeeping Institute test toys year round, often in service to our annual roundup of the year's best toys, but also to rank hot new toys and to delve into specific toy types such as the best magnetic toys. Though it's practically a guarantee kids will get wet, a water table can be less messy than other sensory toys that use sand, aqua beads or other compounds. And if you get one that's big enough for multiple kids to use at once, they can work on sharing and turn-taking, too. Playing with a water table will also help children practice gross and fine motor coordination, understand cause and effect, work on their hand-eye coordination, even experiment with gravity and other STEM concepts. Toddlers and preschoolers, in particular, won't be able to resist running their hands in the cool water, scooping up big cupfuls and hearing the splash as they pour it out again. Water tables offer a sensory experience that fascinates kids. Set up a water table when the weather gets warm and get ready for some wet and wild outdoor fun in the yard or on your deck or patio. We updated this in May 2023, adding a value pick, new options from Step2 and Little Tikes plus new testing notes. ![]() ![]() ![]() Another reason why the Whitecaps signed him from Yokohama F. Takaoka likes to come off his line and grab the ball and less than half an hour into this game he did it several times. He displayed how good he is with the ball on his feet and stopped an Earthquakes header shortly after Schöpf’s goal He might not be over 6’0″ but he made a really good jump to grab the ball. Takaoka once again looked very calm in goal. The Whitecaps had four interceptions less than 20 minutes in. The press was working for the second straight week early on. Schöpf went through the Earthquakes defence like how the Rhine River through the Austrian-Swiss border. Cubas took the ball away from Carlos Gruezo and found Gressel who made an excellent through ball to Schöpf who used his first touch to slot the ball past Daniel. Less than 20 minutes in the Whitecaps showed good intensity with the press. There was also a nice long pass by Vite early on and that led to the Whitecaps having some good possession in the Earthquakes half but couldn’t get a good chance on Earthquakes goalkeeper Daniel. There was even a big block by Veselinović on a shot from Cristian Espinoza. The Earthquakes made some good runs down the flanks but they couldn’t test Yohei Takaoka as Laborda and Veselinović made good tackles and clearances. The Whitecaps got two corner kicks early and White got a good header but it was blocked by one of San Jose’s defenders. Both can move well up and down the pitch and have shown to be reliable defensively in the past.ĭid the Whitecaps build off their first half from last week and learn their lessons from the second half? Well… First half thoughts Raposo and Ahmed probably deserved the starts. Maybe this time around, he gets subbed off earlier for Ali Ahmed or Ryan Raposo. Last week, he did struggle defensively as he looked slow getting back when Real Salt Lake was in transition. We all know Martins can pass the ball but he can struggle defensively. Javain Brown looked good and did get the goal but he started looking shaky defensively in the second half. It was eyebrow-raising to see the same fullbacks as last week. Sartini did not play Laborda against RSL due to tactical reasons. He is on his natural right side with Ranko Veselinović. Mathias Laborda makes his Whitecaps debut. However, Sergio Córdova, the new DP deserves a start but we should expect to see him earlier than we did last week. He wasn’t capitalizing on his chances and his first touch was not good. Perhaps a start will help him settle down and frankly, he deserves a start after a solid preseason.īrian White struggled up top against RSL. Vite looked a bit shaky coming off the bench last game as his passes were off the mark. Ryan Gauld was paired up with Pedro Vite as the two number 10s. That’s fine because Andrés Cubas, Julian Gressel and Alessandro Schöpf looked solid last week. Whitecaps head coach Vanni Sartini decided to go with the same three midfielders. There weren’t much changes from last week against Real Salt Lake. Once again, there were lots of good things but at the same time, a lot of causes for concern. Pressure was building but it wasn’t enough for Vancouver as they took their foot off the gas yet again. ![]() The Whitecaps? Not much success in MLS unfortunately. At least Muse released Origin of Symmetry and in my opinion, that is one of the greatest albums of all time. Like Muse, the Whitecaps showed promise and hope but they ended up having a subpar second half and ended up with nothing and leaving many fans disappointed. This time, it was against the San Jose Earthquakes in San Jose’s PayPal Park. It was a similar story Saturday night as the Whitecaps once again led at halftime. But disappointed their fans by allowing two quick goals in the second half and losing the game. Similarly, The Whitecaps came into the season with some hopes and expectations and those skyrocketed after an excellent first half against RSL. Of course, many fans were disappointed because Won’t Stand Down showed a lot of promise. Unfortunately, their ninth album Will of the People turned out to be a mediocre album consisting of the different sounds they did over the years. That was one of the heaviest songs they have ever done and fans were wanting a metal album for years it looked like they would get one. Muse baited their fans by thinking they would release a metal album after releasing Won’t Stand Down as the lead single last year. The Vancouver Whitecaps have been like British rock band Muse in some ways this season so far. |
